Mission

To empower young women to live healthy lives filled with positive options

To achieve this mission, Young Women on the Move delivers a holistic approach to health -- mind, body, spirit -- to middle school and high school girls in Kansas City, KS. Girls in the urban core often face extreme environmental stressors and low expectations for achieving their potential. YWOM instills a foundation of moral values, character, and an af rming self-belief system along with individualized support, counseling, mentoring, team building, goal setting, and accountability. Girls learn to enhance their skills in decision making and problem solving, physical and mental health, social and communication skills, academic and career preparation.

Second Annual Profiles of Courage Award

Beginning February 1, 2012 Young Women on the Move will accept nominations for their second annual Profiles of Courage Award. This award is designed to recognize a local Kansas City Metropolitan area woman who demonstrates in her life great resiliency, courage and ethical leadership in achieving her personal goals while significantly impacting the lives of others in her community.
