Mary Beth Gentry

Executive Director and Founder

Mary Beth Gentry is founder and executive director of Young Women on the Move, Inc. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, B.S. in Human Ecology, University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, R.D. Dietetics, and the University of Kansas, Master's Certificate in Community Health and Development, Department of Applied Behavioral Sciences. She is president of Empower for Health Partners, Inc., the founding organization of Young Women on the Move, Inc. Previous positions include assistant dean for external affairs at the KU School of Medicine; director of development for Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada; chief nutritionist for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; and owner of retail establishments in Columbia, Missouri.

Cherie Simmons

Program Coordinator

Cherie Simmons received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and later followed it up with a Secondary Certification in English, Debate, and Drama from Pittsburg State University. After working as a high school, middle school, and university teacher, Cherie spent time as a corporate trainer, retail manager, and develping children's and educational programs. In 2002, she began working with Fred Pryor Seminars and CareerTrack Seminars as a professional speaker and trainer as well as a seminar leader recruiter and was awarded Pryor's "Trainer of the Year." Her career with them has also included content and curriculum development and onsite consulting. Besides working with Young Women on the Move, Cherie continues to provide professional seminars, trainings, speaking engagements, and life coaching.
